An invited presentation given at the Japan Hand Therapy Congress in April 2021 is summarized. Membership and activities of the International Federation of Societies of Hand Therapy (IFSHT) are described. Second, trends in hand therapy around the world identified in the IFSHT 2014 membership survey are summarized. Third, a review of recent trends in using technology in hand therapy practice such as 3D printing, apps, electronic interactive exercise devices, online education, and telemedicine is presented. Finally, a new method of visualizing outcomes for patients with wrist pathology, the consensus wrist index, is introduced. |
